There have been numerous re-tellings so far, from the PoV of so many characters and yet, every time I read it I come away with a different feeling and a different understanding of the characters. The beauty of Bhimsen adventurously looking out for the flower, in his desperation to appease Draupadi, and the disinterest she shows once having received the flower since she had already started Arjuna's tenure, totally disregarding the pain Bhimsen had to undergo, gets no mention in MT's version.

T wouldn't or couldn't include something without proper research. In this context, there is a superbly nuanced sub-narrative of casteism that runs in parallel. Whenever I see this book sitting in my mother's bookshelf, I pick this up and read it once.

This would be the only thing I could find different in this novel from other narratives. Quite natural for a King to say about a demon but he said this within earshot of the father who stood looking at the body of his slain rajdamoozham. According to a tweet from BR Shetty, the film will go on the floors from July onwards. Bhima is a strange choice for a protagonist.
